Ostara News from Our Celtic Hearth - March 2022

The Spring Equinox is a solar festival celebrating the time when the day and night are of equal length.

It is not known whether there was a name for this festival within Celtic culture but it is believed to be related to the northern goddess Ēostre or Ostara which, in turn, inspired the Christian festival of Easter.

We have lots going on at Our Celtic Hearth, take a look and we hope to see you soon!

Beltane whispers to us of new life a nd rebirth, of flowers and spring buds, of awakening and beauty.

T he festival of Samhain (pronounced Sow-en) or Halloween falls on October 31st and marked the beginning of the yearly cycle for Celtic peoples. This was a time of death and the promise of re-birth, a time for stillness and reflection. It was understood that in the dark silence comes whisperings of new beginnings, the stirring of the seed beneath the ground.
